Club History

Following the introduction of the first Birmans to Canberra, local owners formed a Club with the aim of helping each other establish the breed. Thirteen people attended the first Birman Cat Club of Canberra meeting held on August 10th 1980.

The Club held its first Birman Specialist Show in 1983, and over time has added an All Breeds show and a Forest Cat specialist show to the Club's show weekend in May.

The Club has welcomed many international judges to Canberra over this time, several making return trips to enjoy Canberra and the great Australian line up of cats that compete each year.
